ANIMAMIX
灵动清觉
— The First National College Animation Exhibition
“This is the first
time a national
college animation
exhibition of this scale.”
This exhibition can be said to be the largest. A channel to truly understand the Chinese animation industry. It is not hypocritical, not exaggerated, and most truly shows the current situation of Chinese animation. Hope the exhibition can inspire students’ creative enthusiasm; it can build a platform for mutual communication between colleges; and jointly promote China’s animation industry development.
Curating &
Co-organisers.
Co-curated by DONGKOH Cartoon Center and Wuzhou Communication Network Center — nine Chinese art academies collaborated on student and faculty work.
Inside the
Exhibition.
A month-long showing across two spaces at re-C (Covered Bridge) — work from the first graduating cohort of Chinese animation students reaching a public art audience for the first time.
Why this
exhibition matters.
The first national-scale college animation exhibition in China — 9 leading art academies contributing work, held in a public contemporary art space rather than a university gallery.
Tan Xiaozheng’s first major curatorial project — what would later become the foundation of his 20-year animation curation practice, culminating in 2024’s Find Direction 2.
Established a model: school-to-industry pipeline that became the template for DONGKOH’s later roadshow years (2017–2018), where animation education, capital, and production first intersected.
Curatorial documents held at DONGKOH archive, dongkoh.com official records, tanxiaozheng.com Vertical Media Services 2004–2024 self-account, and contemporary press coverage including ifeng.com Jiangyuan’s 2011 interview with the curator. Media tracking across Huaxi Metropolitan Daily, Chengdu Shangbao, iFeng, and 30+ additional outlets.
